Access Rules

How to Override Access Rules for a Single Video

Apply custom access restrictions to one video without changing your team-wide defaults

By default, every video inherits your team's access rules. You can override these on a per-video basis — making a single video public while the rest stay restricted, or applying stricter (or looser) rules to just one video.

Open the video's access rules

Go to Videos in the sidebar and click the video you want to configure. On the video detail page, find the Access Rules card in the right sidebar. Click Edit.

Choose a mode

The dialog shows three options:

  • Inherit — the video uses your team's default access rules. This is the default for all videos. Selecting this removes any existing video-level override.
  • Make public — the video is publicly accessible regardless of team restrictions. Use this to share a specific video openly while keeping others private.
  • Custom rules — apply video-specific overrides. Each rule type (password, signed URLs, domain allowlist, country restrictions, IP allowlist) can be overridden independently.

Configure custom rules

When you select Custom rules, each rule type has an override checkbox. Only the rule types you check are overridden — unchecked types continue to inherit from the team defaults.

For each enabled rule type, configure it the same way as the team-wide settings:

  • Password — enter a password viewers must supply before the video plays. Click Clear to remove it.
  • Signed URLs — require HMAC-signed URLs for this video. Unsigned requests are rejected.
  • Domain Allowlist — enter domains that are allowed to embed this video. Other domains are blocked.
  • Country Restrictions — choose Allow only or Deny, then add two-letter ISO country codes (e.g. US, DE).
  • IP Allowlist — enter IP addresses or CIDR ranges (e.g. 203.0.113.0/24). Only listed addresses can access this video.

Save

Click Save to apply the override. The Access Rules card on the video detail page will show Custom rules to indicate the video has a video-level override in place.

To revert to team defaults at any time, open the dialog and select Inherit, then save.
